Data sources

TYPICAL COURSE OF ACTION:

Identify the viewpoint in the Google Map (using zooming, moving, or searching), click on the map at the viewpoint and, thus, take its coordinates into the form
or
Select the viewpoint from the list
or
Directly enter the viewpoint data (latitude, longitude, altitude) into the form
Set the viewing angle and the margins of the panorama by moving the lines in the Google Map
or
Directly enter viewing angle and viewing field or left and right borders into the form
Optionally enter or modify other parameters in the form
Enter title of the panorama
Show the panorama

Extensive help

The zone covered by digital elevation data is shaded in blue color (light blue: 3'' resolution, dark blue: 1'' resolution).
Naming of summits is most dense in the Alps and Pyrenees. In other regions it is taken from GeoNames; there everybody can contribute and correct data.

Restriction of maximum width to 14400 Pixel (= horizontal extension 360° with zoom factor 2)

14.05.2011 - In recent days, the requests have increased massively to this application. As a consequence, sometimes there result long times of waiting for the panoramas to appear.

Very broad panoramas bind disproportionate resources. Therefore I have restricted the maximum width of the full panoramas to allow the fairest possible sharing of the limited resources. The restriction does not apply to the panoramas sent by e-mail.

This restriction allows the creation of full 360-degree panoramas with zoom factor 2. Panoramas with higher zoom factors must be split.
